Hoth Han Solo Costume from ESB

And so it begins...  I've always loved Han.. I think he's my favourite character. I've already done a Chewie costume (see my other blog) and I always loved the Hoth scenes where they were hunting the probe droid. I've decided to build a Han Solo Hoth costume, to be as accurate as possible and also covered in snow! It's going to be cold looking, dirty, and hopefully keep me warm when I do those outside cold troops (hello London premiere!) Hopefully this blog will be useful to anyone else following my build as there doesn't seem to be many of these costumes out there at the moment (I can find 4 globally).

Denix 2.. more filing and sanding

Filed and detailed the grooves This will need filling and sanding later First bit of sanding with dremel sanding bit.. really rough! Next up I sanded the 2 "washers" off the sides of the sight hinge.. (like original) Then cleaned up the sight text a little with a pick (pointy metal pin)

DL44 Magazine seam

I forgot to add some photos of the end result. This required scoring a line with a pic (I used a compass!) and then after using the groove with my sharp dremel grinding bit to do a groove. I also countersunk a hole in the middle for the release button. It was really hard to get a clean groove as the grain in the metal just creates loads of little bumps which are solid. This is the best I could do without grinding it out completely. Once weathered this will be a lot more subtle.
