Hoth Han Solo Costume Build

Won these on eBay for a few quid.. they appear to be quite accurate to the originals. Even the frayed edges are right. I think the originals were folded down and stitched over though... Comparisons to follow! Update! Just found some photos and zoomed in and realised the brown scarf I got was totally wrong! Not sure what I was thinking! The brown inner scarf is a thicker knitted scarf. Check out the original : And this is what I found on Ebay! Its exactly the same thread and stitch pattern. If you look closely, each ridge has a centre line - as does this one I found in Germany!

Look what I found on eBay! Got these for £5! They are the same as the originals.. longer cuff, off white cuff and no stitching on palm. They are white leather and fit good! Now I just need to find the comms greeblie...

Hans goggles are a bit of a one off. There is some speculation as to which Goggles they are and if they were custom made etc etc. I believe I managed to get some inside information on this from a friend who is close to props designers/crew and OT staff. What we're looking for are a set of goggles with some of the frame removed, and white padding. They are also vented at the top. Believed to be Ski Goggles which were a prototype from Scott.   I now believe this is not the case.   As we now have this information :          Goal set. I need to find me some of these... or at worst, make some as similar as possible! Turns out they are originally MotoX Goggles.

Hoth troopers all have white leather welding gloves with a 6-7" grey gauntlet. Han also has the comlink on his wrist. This is an original set of gloves at auction in the London Prop Store. And this is the set of gloves I have ordered. I found them on Ebay :  Other reference shots : You can also see which variation of the DL-44 Han has here. And so it begins...  I've always loved Han.. I think he's my favourite character. I've already done a Chewie costume (see my other blog) and I always loved the Hoth scenes where they were hunting the probe droid. I've decided to build a Han Solo Hoth costume, to be as accurate as possible and also covered in snow! It's going to be cold looking, dirty, and hopefully keep me warm when I do those outside cold troops (hello London premiere!) Hopefully this blog will be useful to anyone else following my build as there doesn't seem to be many of these costumes out there at the moment (I can find 4 globally).
